Swiss company Pistor AG makes daily deliveries to bakeries, confectioneries, and restaurants. Many aspects have to be taken into account when planning the routes, from three different temperature zones for the goods to loading devices, distribution traffic via cable cars, special customer requests and orders placed at short notice.
Originally founded as a purchasing cooperative of Swiss bakers, the food wholesaler Pistor supplies not only bakeries and confectioneries but also catering businesses today. Still, one thing has remained the same: Pistor's customers are also the owners of the company, hence the very highly customer- and service-oriented transport logistics. Essential aspects in their business are customer-driver loyalty, orders placed the day before, the joint transport of products requiring three distinct temperature zones, and the consideration of individual customer needs.
Pistor AG supplies German-speaking Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein right from the company’s headquarters in Rothenburg. French-speaking Switzerland is served by a distribution center in Chavornay. Every year, around 100,000 tons of goods are shipped to bakers and confectioners, restaurants and canteens in more than 320,000 shipments. Around 470 full-time employees and a fleet of 84 trucks and nine trailers ensure that Pistor’s customers never run out of ingredients ...
